For primary and secondary clarification, our Lamella plate clarifiers use inclined parallel plates (Hazen theory) to provide 10 times more effective settling area within a tiny fraction of conventional settling tank space. Lamella clarifiers utilize a series of inclined plates set at a 55°–60° angle. As water flows upward between the plates, solids settle onto the plate surface and slide down into the sludge hopper. This arrangement increases the effective settling surface area by 8 to 10 times, allowing a tiny steel unit to do the work of a massive concrete circular clarifier, saving both real estate and civil construction costs in Sri Lanka.
What dryness can be achieved with a Water Lanka Filter Press? +
Depending on sludge characteristics (biological sludge vs. chemical coagulation sludge), our recessed chamber and membrane squeeze filter presses achieve cake dryness between 60% and 75% dry solids. The resulting cake can be easily handled by shovels, packed in bags, or loaded onto trucks for solid waste disposal without water dripping.
