Potable & Drinking Water Treatment Plants in Sri Lanka

Water Lanka Services (Pvt) Ltd provides turnkey Potable Water Treatment Plants, Ultrafiltration (UF) Systems, and Ultraviolet (UV) Water Sterilizers tailored to treat well water, deep tube wells, surface water, and municipal supplies across Sri Lanka. Engineered to meet the Sri Lanka Standards Institute (SLS 614:2013) specifications for potable water, our purification systems eliminate turbidity, iron, manganese, dissolved bacteria, viruses, and pathogens.

Potable Drinking Water Treatment Plant Construction in Sri Lanka

Multi-Barrier Potable Water Purification Technology

Groundwater and surface water in Sri Lanka frequently contain elevated levels of iron, manganese, hardness, dissolved solids, and microbial pathogens that cause staining, pipe scaling, and severe health hazards.

Our integrated portable and municipal drinking water plants utilize a systematic multi-barrier approach: Aeration & Coagulation → Quartz Sand & Manganese Dioxide Filtration → Activated Carbon Adsorption → 0.01 Micron UF Ultrafiltration → In-line UV Disinfection Sterilization. The output is refreshing, crystal clear, odorless, and microbially sterile drinking water.

Advanced Water Purification Technologies

Engineered for high recovery, low operating cost, and zero chemical aftertaste

Ultrafiltration (UF) Plants

Hollow fiber UF membranes with a pore size of 0.01 micron. Physically sieves out suspended colloids, silt, algae, bacteria (99.9999%), and viruses (99.99%) while retaining essential healthy natural minerals. Automated backwash and chemical enhanced backwash (CEB).

UV Water Treatment Plants

Heavy-duty AISI 304 and 316 stainless steel chamber Ultraviolet (UV) sterilizers with high-output germicidal lamps (254 nm wavelength). Instantly destroys DNA of pathogens including E. Coli, Giardia, and Cryptosporidium without adding chlorine or changing water taste.

UV Sterilizer Models

Iron & Manganese Removal

Specialized catalytic media filters (Birm, Manganese Greensand, Pyrolox) designed for deep well water in Gampaha, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, and Polonnaruwa. Eliminates reddish-brown water discoloration, metallic odor, and staining of sanitary fittings.

Iron Filter Solutions

Commercial Bottling Water Plants

Turnkey purified drinking water plant setup for 19L bottle refill stations, PET bottle mineral water factories, pharmaceutical compounding, and hotel in-house bottling lines, complete with ozone generators, micron filters, and automated filling skids.

Frequently Asked Questions: Potable & Drinking Water Treatment

What is the difference between Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Ultrafiltration (UF) for drinking water? +
Ultrafiltration (UF) filters down to 0.01 micron, removing all bacteria, viruses, parasites, and turbidity, while keeping natural dissolved mineral salts (calcium, magnesium) in the water. Reverse Osmosis (RO) filters down to 0.0001 micron, removing both microbes AND dissolved mineral ions/salts (TDS reduction). In Sri Lanka, if your source has high TDS or brackish salinity (over 500-1000 mg/L), an RO plant is needed; if the water has moderate TDS but has turbidity, microbes, or iron, UF combined with media filtration is ideal.
Why should a UV sterilizer be installed in a drinking water plant? +
Ultraviolet (UV) radiation at 254 nm wavelength penetrates microorganisms' cell walls and disrupts their DNA, rendering bacteria, viruses, and cysts completely harmless and incapable of reproduction. UV treatment is chemical-free, adds no taste or smell to the water, and provides instantaneous disinfection without dangerous chlorine by-products.
